Information Technology Services (ITS)

Systems infrastructure

The Systems Infrastructure (SI) team manages institutional and departmental systems and provisions full cycle server support,  web hosting, and LAMP hosting. Systems Infrastructure offers technical support services to university departments running servers that are critical to the daily operation of the department and in the delivery of services.

Primary services offered:

Server support

SI offers server support services that attend to the full lifecycle of your system.  Staffing is provided to attend to the operational requirements such as backups, patches and monitoring as well as your design and transitional needs.  These stages of the systems lifecycle are dynamic and typically represent implementations and upgrades and will necessitate coordination with your staff as well as the software vendor.

ASP.Net / MS SQL website hosting

This is a shared service that is provided to departments that want a more sophisticated web site using ASP.Net and an MS SQL Server database, without the financial burden of running their own server.  In order to provide a consistent level of service for all of the stakeholders, it is required that client’s software conforms to the ASP.Net model without any further software dependencies.

LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/perl) hosting

A LAMP service is available in a shared environment utilizing the “Virtualmin Pro” package.  This is a shared environment providing a cost-effective hosting service for departments that are willing or prefer to manage their own application or website.

Public cloud hosting

SI also provides support to departments wishing to host their servers in the MS Azure public cloud environment.  We have developed a hub & spoke architecture that has been designed with security and scalability in mind and which can be provisioned very quickly.
