Network Infrastructure

The Network Infrastructure group designs, builds and operates the University’s core data and management networks, wireless network, wide-area networks and access to commercial Internet and Research and Education networks. Network Infrastructure staff also provide the engineering and operational resources for GTAnet (, the University’s gateway to the Provincial and National Research and Education community. The network infrastructure group also supports many underlying services necessary for the operation of these networks.

Principle services offered to departments include network design consultation for structured building wiring system, switching and network infrastructure solutions; specialized network connectivity, VPN and traffic management solutions for research and business needs; switch maintenance services; and virtual fire-walling services.
